Febrile Seizure

I am ready to talk about it. James had one on the morning of May 31st. He was just sitting on my lap and I thought he passed out on me. So I yelled for James, which he was only a few feet from me on my laptop.James said" Call 911" So I did, the only thing I remember after that was talking to the dispatcher and he said" we will be there in two minutes( we live on base), you husband is with your son now?" I said cried "Yes!!!" He said go get a neighbor that is medical, I was already at the door beating on it.At that time James yelled from inside the house" Kara tell them he isn't breathing, I am starting CPR" Never the words you want to hear has a parent.I had lost it then and said" please hurry my son not breathing and my husband started CPR, he teaches CPR for his squadron." I was in the driveway of our house, when I turned around two cop cars were here.One went inside the house the other stayed with me and tried to calm me down. I do remember saying" I think that was the longest couple of minutes of my life." Little James was still unresponsive, I went into the house when the medics got there. My friend Misty said " He is doing better, he is crying which is good."The medics were getting Little James ready to go to the ER.I was still in numb I couldn't think. On the way to David Grant ,the medics already knew what happened to him. He had a Febrile Seizure.

A seizure, also called a convulsion, can be triggered by a fever. This is called a febrile seizure. Febrile seizures usually won't harm a child, but they can be very frightening for parents.About 2 to 5 out of every 100 children have at least one febrile seizure. These seizures are most common between 6 months and 5 years of age. All the doctors and medics keep telling me that this is common. When we got to the ER his temp was 103.5, I was still in thinking" this is not happening, James just got home less than a week ago."So they did some blood work and Little James had a virus , they gave him some meds by his IV. His temp went down to 100 over six hours of being there.So they let us bring him home after talking about what had happened.I guess trying to make me feel better. My son just had a seizure and had CPR I am not fine!!! We bought him home and Little James and I lived on the couch for the next couple of days, until he felt better. Then I caught whatever he had and I was sick for a few days. At least James was on his two week off:) James is now back to a normal toddler.

It Has Been One of Those

I don't know where the week went! Well at least it makes the time go by. We are doing really good. Little James is keeping me busy to say the least. He is keeping me on my toes:)

I had always poked fun at those spouse that had " the deployment from hell" in the 10 years I have been a military spouse. I never had a bad deployment until now. Karma bit me BIG TIME!! In this deployment so far, I had called the cops on the crazy neighbor we have twice in a two week span. My camera's auto focus quit, so I got a DSLR, which is a good thing. I LOVE it. But I didn't have a camera for almost a week. It killed me almost. I take pictures all the time. I have taken over 600 pictures this past week.The battery in the car died, I need to buy a new one before James gets home.Then this week, I found wasp nest in the truck of the car and in the gas door. Hopefully the rest of the deployment will go better.

Call From Around the World

I took this a couple of weeks ago when James called us. It happened to be during dinnertime. If you are a military spouse and your husband is deployed you know the phone normally rings when you are busy or have your hands full. Little James sometimes is in the mood to "talk" on the phone other times he pushes the phone away. Hey, give him a break, his in only 20 months old:)

A Great Picture

Have you ever took a picture and thought " that would be a good picture if...." Yep this is one of them. I love this picture, it would be great if the laundry wasn't in the background. But I have toddler I am always doing laundry:)
